Mr. Fowler was a 1942 graduate of Chardon High School, where he participated in baseball and basketball. He was a Veteran of the US Army, Air Corp., serving during World War II in the European Theater. His Squadron was the first group to drop bombs on “D Day”. He was a life member in both the American Legion Post #167 and Chardon VFW Post #6519. He was active in the annual Chardon Memorial Day Program for more than 50 years. He was a 65 year member of the Geauga County Fair Band, playing the Bass Drum and Cymbals. Mr. Fowler enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. He enjoyed gardening and pinochle. Mr. Fowler enjoyed spending his winters in Florida, and this year was able to watch his grandsons participate in baseball tournaments in Cocoa Beach. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and supporting all of their extra curricular activities and sporting events. He was a Rural Mail Carrier for the Chardon Post Office for 32 years, retiring in 1978. Survivors include his wife Shirley (Monroe) Fowler of Munson Twp., daughters Mary Ellen Gregorich of Munson Twp. and Carol Fowler of Orlando, FL. He also leaves his grandsons John and Bryan Gregorich, sister Helen Howard of Billings, MT and Many nieces and nephews. His parents Robert H. and Ruth (Johnson) Fowler,Infant Daughter, sister Mona Fowler Pike andbrother Robert Fowler are deceased.
