Mr. Young was a welder and assembler for Stock Equipment, Chagrin Falls, for 28 years, retiring in 1993. Mr. Young was in the US Army, serving in Kunsan, Korea during the Korean War. He was a Sgt., 1st Class, serving with the Co. “A ” 876th Engineer Aviation Division, helping to build landing strips for the bombers.Mr. Young was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed wood working, carving and gardening. He was a member of Geauga Aerie #2261 F.O.E., Chardon VFW Post #6519, Chardon High School Boosters Club and enjoyed bowling at Ernst Lanes. He was instrumental in the building of the old sports stadium at Chardon High School and the concession stands. He built the first weight machine in the school weight room in the early 70’s. He and the family spent many weekends near Somerset, PA.Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elaine (nee: Glessner) Young of Munson Twp., whom he married in Chardon February 27, 1954, children Holly (Chuck) Boros of Chardon, Michael (Cindy) Young of Middlefield, Eric (Carla) Young of Middlefield, Carol (Ken) Pritt of Chardon, Wendy (Doug) Daugherty of Chardon, grandchildren Linda (Charlie) Kroger of Mebane, NC, Michelle (Frank) Rihtar of Concord, Michael and Kyle Young of Middlefield, Megan and Bradley Young of Burton, Nicholas (Jessica Longrich) Giardina of Middlefield, Matthew Giardina of Middlefield, Danielle and Katie Daugherty of Chardon, sisters Jean Bunk of Chambersberg, PA and Julie Varjlen of South Fork, PA; sisters in law Janice Young of Summerhill, PA and Yolonda (Richard) Dunmire of Concord, NC; brother in law Paul Croyle of South Fork, PA; Special Aunt: Helen Blozevich of Naples, FL and special cousin: Pat Hillegas of South Fork, PA.
