William E. Bill Mapel, 42, of Huntsburg Township, He had lived in Huntsburg Township for nine years.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a Sgt. Airborne Ranger. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. His passion was spending time outside gardening, caring for his woods and lawn. He was a lifetime member of the Fairport Harbor VFW Post 7754.Mr. Mapel worked as a sales representative for Collinwood Concrete Company in Cleveland. He had previously worked for Carr Brothers in Bedford and Union Sand in Fairport Harbor.Survivors are his wife, Mary (Byrd) Mapel, of Huntsburg Township, whom he married Jan. 2, 1995, in Lake Taho, Nev.; sons, Shane and Dustin; parents, William and Rosalie (Vana) Mapel; brothers, Darik Mapel of Fairport Harbor and Mark (Tracy) Mapel of Albuquerque, N.M.; and sisters, Rita (Larry) Baumgartl of Bedford Heights and Terrie (Edward) Thyret of Bedford Heights.Pastor Nicki L. Behr of Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon will officiate the services. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
