Mr. Gehring was very active with Boy Scouts of America since he was a child. He was a scout and achieved the “Silver Beaver Award”, the highest national Scouting award given. He moved on to being a scout leader and camp master. He served on many camping committees through out the years. He was active with the “Pioneers” repairing tape machines for books for the blind. Mr. Gehring enjoyed fishing and wood working. He was always a very positive person and touched the lives of many throughout the years. Mr. Gehring worked with the phone company from 1963 until his retirement in 2000. He is survived by his wife Jean (Crawfoot) Gehring of Claridon Twp., whom he married October 30, 1965 in Wickliffe, children Christine Gehring of Euclid, Patricia Gehring of Lyndhurst, and William (Trinetta) Gehring of Canfield, grandchildren Jacob and Luke Gehring,mother Elizabeth “Betty” Jean (Reimholtz) Gehring of Mentor, siblings John (Gail) Gehring of Munson Twp., Kathy Taylor of Mentor, Tom (Susan) Gehring of Mentor and Dave (Denise) Gehring of Hambden Twp. He also leaves an “Adopted son” Troy (Donna) Myers of Clarksville, TN and many nieces and nephews.
