Violet Marie “Teri” Ondrey (nee: Tatary), age 92, of Chardon passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018. Born in Cleveland November 22, 1925, Teri was the daughter of Romanian immigrants Michael and Leona (Sutt) Tatary. She graduated Mayfield High School and attended Miami University, where she was a member of the first female cheerleader squad. She married Army Air Corps veteran and fellow Miami graduate Joseph Ondrey and they raised their family of four children in Orange Village. She was an avid artist, antique collector, pianist and composer, poetess, librarian, freelance graphic artist and entertainer extraordinaire who made friends across the generations with her young at heart attitude. Proud member of the Pan-Hellenic Society. She will be remembered especially for her sumptuous Sunday dinners highlighting her creative cooking and love of family. She is survived by her children Carol Ondrey of Santa Barbara, CA; David (Ellen ) Ondrey, Thomas (Anne) Ondrey and James Ondrey, all of Chardon; grandchildren James (Cristina) Ondrey of Dublin, OH; Elizabeth (David) Curtis of Chicago, IL; Clare (Douglas) Carr of Brooklyn, NY; Christian (Lindsay) Ondrey of Rocky River and Joseph Ondrey of Chicago, and six great-grandchildren.
