Thomas W. Baptie, 68 passed away February 22, 2011 at the UHHS Geauga Hospital. Born May 29, 1942, he was a lifelong Chardon resident. Mr. Baptie was a retired Electrician. Tom enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing and collected antique cars. In the spring Tom would spend time helping friends with maple syrup production. He was an avid “side line ” coach. He is survived by his children: Tom, Terry, and ElaineGrandchildren: Dianne, Jaimie, Laurie, Nina, John, Hailey, and JarrettSiblings: Donna, Pennie, Dale and GerryHe is preceded in death by is parents Ward and Ruth (nee: Burgess) Baptie.A Memorial Gathering will be held Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 from 2-4pm at the Burr Funeral Home 116 South Street (500′ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. My sincerest condolences to the family. Daniel 12:2 tells us "there will be many of those asleep in the ground of dust who will wake up, these to indefinitely lasting life." Soon all our loved ones will be resurrected to live in a new paradise earth where death will be no more, neither will pain and suffering. What a wonderful day that will be.

He was a familiar face here at the Chardon Library and we miss him already!My daughter loved to talk to him at McDonalds when we would run into each other. I am very sorry for your loss. I am very glad to have spent sometime talking with Tom at our class reunion this past summer. I wasjust looking at one of our class pictures from 2nd grade and both ofus were usually in the front row. I always remember him as beinga very kind and happy person.

I always saw Tom at all the Class Reunions. How he loved seeing everyone and getting together. He was so happy when we saw him last summer at the 50th reunion. He sure was happy in his mustang. He will be missed by all his classmates.
