Theodore R. (Ted) Herwig

Memorial service for Theodore R. (Ted) Herwig, 85, of Newbury Township, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Newbury United Community Church, 14916 Auburn Road, Newbury Township. The Rev. Patricia Hough of the church will officiate. Mr. Herwig died Dec. 8, 2010, at his residence.Mr. Herwig was born April 21, 1925, in Stoystown, Pa., and lived in Newbury Township since 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. and was a retired mechanical assembler at Newbury Industries in Newbury Township. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, gardening and playing with his dog, Tiger. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friend.Mr. Herwig is survived by his wife, Luella “Lou” Herwig (nee Yoder) of Newbury Township, whom he married in Winchester, Va. in 1947; daughters, Karen Dreisbach of Ashland, Ohio and Jean (Gary) Johnson of Newbury Township; sons, Terry Herwig of Fayetteville, Ga., and Gary (Karen) Herwig of Burton; grandchildren, Kim, Todd (Missy), Julie (Gus), Amy, Lori (Ben), Brad, Thomas, Jennifer and Riley; great-grandchildren, Haley, Taryn, Summer and Melayna; and sister, Betty Shepley of Friedens, Pa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nora Altmiller; brother, Homer Altmiller; and sister, Mary Durst.A committal service at Newbury Center Cemetery will follow memorial services. Sorry to hear of Ted's passing. I worked many years with Ted at Newbury Industries and have many great memories of those times. Lew

Sad are the heats that loved you. Silent are the tears that fall. Living our lives without you is the hardest part of all. Your heart was so kind and true. and when we needed someone we could count on you. Your family will sure miss your jokes and the smell of that colone..Our thoughts and prayers are with yous.
