She married Edgar Bill Mathena in Knoxville, TN on February 17, 1945. He preceded her in death on November 1, 1979. Mrs. Mathena was totally devoted to her family. She loved to spend as much time with her grandchildren as possible. She would often load them into the car and drive them where ever they might want to go. She worked at the Geauga Hospital for 15+ years in the housekeeping department. She is survived by 3 Daughters: Barbara (Denver Jr.) Yeater of Perry, OH; Beverly (Allan) Thompson of Chardon,OH; Betty Mathena of Chardon, OH; Grandchildren: Renee Ertell of Phoenix, AZ; Holly Thompson of Centerbrook, CT; Kellsey Thompson of Chardon, OH;Diana Yeater of Perry, OH; and Buddy (Denver III) Yeater of Perry,OH.She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph Helton and Pearl Carr (nee: Cooper);Husband: Edgar Bill Mathenal; Brother: Joseph Helton, Jr.; and Sister: Ruby Adair.
