Mr. Baker attended the Pilgrim Christian Church on the square in Chardon, OH. He graduated from Chardon High School in 1966. While at Chardon High School, Mr. Baker was Class Vice President and Class Honorarian. He was also active in sports, excelling in basketball and track. He was a 1st team Western Reserve Team Basketball Selection, an All-Geauga County Basketball Team Selection, and the track team MVP his senior year. He received his BS in Business from Bowling Green State University in 1970. While at Bowling Green, he was Treasurer and Vice President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, was Army ROTC and a member of the Scabbard and Blade. Mr. Baker was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Quartermaster Corps and Honorably Discharged in the early 1970’s. In 1974, Mr. Baker received his MBA in Finance from Xavier University. He taught business and accounting at Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, OH where he coached basketball and football for one year. Mr. Baker was treasurer at Kenston Local Schools for three years before going to Mayfield City Schools for 28 years. At Mayfield, he was an award winning treasurer, earning numerous professional distinctions. He was involved with numerous community organizations and enjoyed coaching youth basketball at the West End YMCA. He enjoyed running, camping, kayaking, watching his sons play sports, and spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted husband to Janis for 35 years.
