Robert L. Bob MurrayMemorial services for Robert L. Bob Murray, 83, of Chardon Township, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 St. Route 82 (corner of Mantua Center and State Route 82), in Mantua.Mr. Murray died March 25, 2008, at Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township.Born Aug. 19, 1924, in Cleveland, he had lived in Bainbridge before moving to Chardon 20 years ago.He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. He was a member for more than 60 years of Willoughby Lodge 302, and was a member of the Valley of Akron Scottish Rite and Tadmore Temple in Akron. He was an avid Ham radio operator and enjoyed camping.Mr. Murray worked as a supervisor and registered tool and die maker with Gould Ocean Systems from 1963 until his retirement in 1985.Survivors are his wife, Shirley (nee Ketchion) Murray, whom he married Oct. 12, 1946, in East Cleveland; son, Richard (Carole) Murray of Boca Raton, Fla.; daughters, Laurie (John) Metzko of Mantua and Kim (Bill) Hupp of Chardon Township; grandchildren, Russell Murray of California, Christopher Boyd of Clarksville, Tenn., Timothy Metzko of Mantua and Kazmer and Zachary Hupp of Chardon Township; great-granddaughter, Dakota Boyd of Clarksville, Tenn.; sisters, Helen Ferguson of Willowick and Charlotte (Fred) Stoldt of Eastlake; and brothers, Austin Charles Murray (Ted Robinson) of Rome Township and James Murray of Chardon.He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Helen (Burrow) Murray.Friends may call immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. The Rev. Houston Bowers of the church will officiate the service. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
