RICHARD WILLIAM “DICK” BARBE
Age 88 of Willoughby, died peacefully at the Fairmont Health Center at Breckenridge Village, Willoughby, November 23, 2018. Born June 29, 1930 in Bristol Twp., OH to John and Levina (nee: McHenry) Barbe. Dick was a 22-year resident of Chardon, retired to Knoxville, TN and after 17 years, decided to return to Willoughby. He was a 1948 graduate of Bristol High School and a 1952 graduate of The Ohio State University. Dick proudly served in the US Army as a Medic, in McCallem, TX. For 35 years, he was the President of Euclid Precision Grinding, that was started by his father in law. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a talented gunsmith. Dick and his family very much enjoyed spending time at their “cabin in the woods” in PA.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (nee: Gould), whom he married December 21, 1963 in Euclid, children Eric (Lisa) Barbe of Willoughby and Vanessa Barbe of Columbus, grandchildren Emilio (USN) and Orion Citriglia. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and sisters Marie, Alma and Joann.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 30 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with burial immediately following at Sager Cemetery, Bristol Twp.
