Mr. Chapman was a 1943 graduate of Chardon High School. Veteran of the US Army Air Corp. serving in the Philippines during World War II. He was an avid sports fan, having played for Chardon High School and the Chardon Pirates, Semi Pro Football Team. He enjoyed bowling, coon hunting, playing Corn Toss and sitting on the front porch waving to his friends going by. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Mr. Chapman was a life member of the Chardon VFW #6619, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Geauga Aerie #2261, Chardon and Union Local #16. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grand children. Survivors are his daughters Mary (Tom) Harris of Munson Twp., Bonnie (Ray) Sanders of Chardon and Joan (Dan Williamson) Chapman of Newbury Twp.,son Paul James Chapman II of Munson Twp.;grandchildren Paul J. (Jen Dowdy) Chapman III of Windsor, Craig W. (Candy) Chapman of Munson Twp.,Carol L. Ferguson of Chardon, Kelly J. Chapman of Chardon, Dee Dee (Matt) Jones of Middlefield, Spc. 4 Jennifer Harris of Ft. Hood, TX, Brian R. Sanders of Chardon, Alicia and Kyle Williamson of Newbury Twp.; great grandchildren James, Cory, Amy, Jesse, Alice, Tyler, Tyler, Angel, LeAnn, Craig, Dustin, Jack, Kennedy, Autumn & Liberty; brothers Leon Chapman of Munson Twp. and Gerald Chapman of Scottsdale, AZ. His wife Alice M. (Torkko)Chapman, whom he married May 31, 1948, preceded him in death October 20, 1984. His parents Paul & Mamie (Stutzman) Chapman and brothers Ronald, James and Hugh Chapman are also deceased.
