Ray was a 1968 graduate of Ada High School, a 1972 graduate of Ohio Northern University and a 1975 graduate of the Cincinnati of Mortuary Science. He was a member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church in Lafayette, OH, Masonic Lodge F&AM #224 and Royal Arch Masons, #157 in Ada and was a former member of the Lions Club, also in Ada. He enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, especially the Lake Erie Islands, and most recently riding his Harley Davidson. He just returned from a cross country trip to Sturgis, SD.Ray was a wonderful friend, and never met a person he didn’t like. He was extremely generous, and would always help a person in need. He will be missed by many. Ray was a member of the Western Reserve Mentor OH Harley Owner’s Group since January 2005. He joined the National Harley Owner’s Group in June, 2004. He participated in many motorcycle runs for charity with his final run being on Sunday, participating in the Deep Wood Run for disabled children. He started his Funeral Service Career with the Hanson Neely Funeral Home in Ada, OH, in 1974, working there for 9 years. He then sold for the Aurora Casket Company and Reynoldsville Casket Company before beginning full time employment September, 2004 as a Funeral Director/Embalmer for the Burr Funeral Home in Chardon. Ray worked part time with Burrs for 15 years prior to his full time employment.Mr. Long was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his sisters Sue (Richard) Tribbett of Piqua, Linda Long of Wilmington, nephew Jeffery Tribbett of Anna, OH, great niece Breonna Tribbett, aunts Katherine (Maurice) Hughes of Ada, Marie Hawley of Bell Center, Leah Staley of Lafayette,Many friends and colleagues. His parents Raymond L. and Wilma Jean (nee: Hall) Long are deceased.
