R. Eugene Brown,73, of Munson Township, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township.Born Nov. 22, 1936, in Burton Village, he had been a lifelong Geauga County resident.Mr. Brown was a self-employed homebuilder for more than 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of Burton High School, Class of 1954. In his youth, he was an amateur stock car racer and continued to enjoy watching NASCAR on television. He had traveled to the Daytona 500 four times. He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and football and was a diehard fan of the Cleveland Browns. His passion in life was designing and building homes, having built 159 homes in Geauga County.Survivors are his children, Ronald Brown of Munson Township, Michael (Patty) Brown of Chardon Township, and Karen Brown of Chardon; grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Matthew and Kenneth; and close friend, Jean Frohring of Burton Township. He also had 15 brothers and sisters.His wife, Joyce L. (Brunsky) Brown, whom he married Sept. 17, 1960, at Chardon United Methodist Church, preceded him in death April 16, 2007. His daughter, Sharon Brown; and parents, Bruce and Mildred (Bowen) Brown, are also deceased.The family will host a reception at 12547 Hotchkiss Road in Burton Township following the funeral service.
