Phillip A. Tuckey, 87, of Chardon, passed away March 3, 2011, at his residence with his two sons by his side.Born May 3, 1923 in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Roaming Shores for 27 years prior to moving to Chardon in 2007. He had also resided in Mentor.Phil worked for Clevite Engine Bearings for 44 years, until his retirement in 1986.Phil married Jean Suleski Aug. 18, 1945, in Cleveland. She preceded him in death May 18, 2007.He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Philippine Campaign during World War II. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6519 of Chardon and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2261. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.Survivors are his sons, Jerome (Connie) Tuckey of Tallahassee, Fla., and James (Nanette) Tuckey of Hambden Township; grandchildren, Victoria “Vicki” (Tony) Thompson, Joseph “Joe” (Margarita) Tuckey, James “Jimmy” M. Tuckey and Chelsea N. Tuckey; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Taylor.He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents, Phillip and Catherine (nee: Hostig) Tuckey; brother, Matthew Tuckey; and sister, Pauline Weiss.Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon.Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
