Mr. Tvergyak was Fire Marshall and part of the Maintenance Department of Geauga Community Hospital in Claridon Twp. from it’s opening in 1959, until his retirement. He would visit every patient singing, whistling or talking to them, during their stay to make their day brighter. Veteran of the US Army Air Corp., 392nd Bomb Group, serving as Staff Sergeant, Flight Engineer, during World War II in the European Theatre. He was known as was “Skipper” by his army buddies. Mr. Tvergyak was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Newbury Twp, where he volunteered many hours and helped build the original Church. He was one of the Charter Members and founding fathers of the Munson Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to sing, tell jokes and play his Harmonica. He was the champion Harmonica player at the Great Geauga County Fair when he was 11 years old. He is survived by his son Paul (Patricia) Tvergyak of Wenatchee, WA, grandchildren Julie (Tyler) Mickey of Seattle, WA, Allen Tvergyak of Portland, OR and Katie (Dean) Lambson of Spokane, WA. He also leaves his great grandchildren Anna and Laura Mickey, sisters Aggie Tvergyak and Liz (Joe) Szuszkiewicz and Many nieces and nephews. His wife Tillie I. (Tarka) Tvergyak, daughter Mary Jo Tvergyak, son Robert Tvergyak, parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Cserbak) Tvergyak, sister Maggie Ritondaro and brother Lewis, Steve and Joe Tvergyak are all deceased.
