Noreen A. Smith, age 74 of Chardon passed away Sept. 8, 2015 at her home. Born Sept. 21, 1940 in Cleveland to Norbert and Marie (nee: Gibbons) Burlinghaus, she had been a longtime area resident. Noreen was a graduate of Holy Name High School. She married Richard C. Smith on June 25, 1960; he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2013. Noreen volunteered at Geauga Hospital, was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s in Chardon and volunteered at St. Mary School. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her children Donna (Mark) Ward of Tampa, FL, Richard (Christine) of Newbury, Kathy (Craig) Rose Vatty of Chardon and Sandy (Steve) McBride of Chardon; grandchildren Rachel, Alex and Daniel Ward, Lindsey Rose, Steven and Shelby McBride, Matthew and Benjamin Smith and great grandchild Nicholas Rose and brother Norbert “Bud” Burlinghaus of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial gathering will be from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015 at the Church of St. Mary 401 North St. Chardon, OH with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Munson Twp.
