Nathan Alva Trask, 24, of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, died Aug. 25, 2011, in Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights. He was born Feb. 11, 1987, in Claridon Twp., Ohio. Nathan was a 2005 graduate of Mayfield High School and a 2011 graduate of BGSU Firelands in Huron. Nathan was active in Science Club and environmental and student government activities. He enjoyed writing, literature and music. He is survived by his father Gerald A. “Rick” Trask of Mayfield Heights; mother Nancy (Pace) Trask of Mentor, Ohio; brothers, Michael Trask of Chardon, Ohio, Bryan (Sarah) Trask of Cleveland and Kevin (Maggie) Trask of Fairport Harbor, Ohio; grandmothers, Dorothy (Susman) Trask of Chardon and Margaret (Swanson) Pace of Mentor; countless aunts, uncles and cousins; and his loving companion, Alexandria “Alex” Sanford of Mayfield Heights. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Gerald E. Trask and Richard W. Pace.Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Ohio 44, 500 feet south of U.S. 6/Chardon Square), Chardon, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Thompson Twp., Ohio.

Well... I am at a sickness in regards to your passing, Nathan. You managed, hundreds of miles away, to brighten my day with the typed words: hi fave aunt. Simple. Caring. Loving. And like every word I have heard- every word I have read from others- you brought me a smile. You know, Nate, I don't think our loss will effect me until I come back to Grandma's house and you won't be sitting on the bench waiting for me. The thought of that empty spot that has been filled for years and years- makes me not want to go to that dining room table. I asked Kevin to fill your spot. I know he knows it is not an easy shoe to fill. He and I will do our best, through a silent hug, through a soul piercing look in the eyes, that you should be there. I told God- please for whatever reason He found to take you Home, that in this painful healing, He would bring a joy and purpose. I told you on Friday night long ago, "don't you have friends or something to hang out with on a Friday night, rather than to hang out with your old aunt?" It seemed like Nathan and the rest of the group always had the same class schedule. Maybe not all the same classes but we went at almost the exact same time and had breaks at the same time. He was always the life and smile of the group and as more of us continue to graduate and move on we'll always have those memories of the good times to look back on.
