Nancy Lee “Nan” Petersen

Nan was a 1972 graduate of Chardon High School and the Cosmetology Class at the Lake County Vocational School, now known as Auburn Career Center.She loved to cook for everyone, especially her neighbors, the Piotrkowski’s. She also enjoyed sewing for the Cleveland VA Hospital patient’s bibs and lap robes. One of her favorite things was the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Children’s Holiday Party. She sewed blankets for the children and decorated the tree with the blankets. Nan loved feeding the birds in her front yard.Nan was the owner/operator of “Nan’s Place ” in the Chardon Plaza for 13 years. She then enjoyed working with her dad at Bloom Brothers in Chesterland for many years before joining the team at Chardon Ace Hardware. Nan then went to the “Cutting Edge ” in Woodiebrook Plaza before working for the Middlefield WalMart Store Produce Department. She retired in February, 2009. She was active in the Geauga County American Business Women’s Association for 24 years, serving as their Secretary and their President for the last 2 years. She did much of the planning for their Style Show and fund raising events for many years. She was also a member of the Aerie Eagles #2261 in Chardon.Nan and her sister looked forward to spending weekends and much of the summer at their vacation home on Catawba Island, the western basin of Lake Erie. This would have been her 20th year of enjoying Catawba Sunsets.She is survived by her sister Barbara Petersen of Chardon, nephew Joshua Hinkle of Uniontown, lifelong and special friends: Donna Baptie Temple, Susie Brochak and Paula Paulin and many others. She also leaves many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends and her very special companions kittys Baby, Maggie and Leah. Her parents Edwin and Eva (nee: Briadwood) Petersen are deceased.
