Mrs. Hale was the mother of six area women, a homemaker and a women blessed with many talents. When her children were young, she worked as a realtor, volunteered at area hospitals and schools. While residing in Hambden Twp., she became the first female volunteer firefighter with Hambden Volunteer Fire Department, serving one year as its president. For many years, she worked with the Chardon Local Schools as a teaching assistant for Special Needs Children. She continued to care for and work with children, family being foremost among her interests. She was an avid outdoors person, enjoying hunting, trapping, fishing and camping. Reading, music, writing and drawing were lifetime hobbies. Mrs. Hale loved reading the Bible and was very strong in her faith. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary, Chardon. She was an auxiliary member of Eagle Aerie #2261, Chardon. Her grandchildren called her Nana, they were her Jewels. Her daughters were her best friends.She is survived by her husband Mark S. Hale of Chardon, whom she married May 3, 1986 at thir favorite campsite at East Branch Reservoir, Claridon Twp., daughters Norma (Mike) Sweet of Euclid, Lennie (Karl) Gandolf of Chardon, Regena (Jeff) Szuter of Concord Twp., N. Karen (Zeljko) Cvitkovic of Willowick,Christen (Tony) DeVito of Cleveland andTerri-Jo (Dan) Martin of Huntsburg Twp.; 23 Grandchildren, 4 Step Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren;sister Bonnie (Thomas) Johnson of Madison Hts., MI; former husband Terry J. (Gail) Brooks of Beckley, WV and family companion Milton. Her parents Leonard and Virginia (nee: Irie) Knudsen, great grandson Killian Howiler, brother William Knudsen, half sister Julie Ann and beloved Aunt Marjorie Johnson and Uncle William Irie are all deceased.
