Dear Family,During this time of great sorrow, may it comfort you to know that others are deeply touched by your loss. I too know the pain of losing someone dear. Even though our hearts are broken, rest assure that our Grand Creator cares about you personally (1Peter 5:7) and can help you though this difficult time. Revelation 21:4 speaks of a time soon when God will do away with death forever. There will be no more sorrow, heartache, or pain. May your happy memories and sure scriptural hope comfort your hearts during this painful time. Please remember that during Jesus’ ministry, he healed the sick and resurrected back to life on earth many that had died, giving proof of his power over sickness and death. Jesus made a promise to all who have lost loved ones in death at John 5:28, 29 which reads: “The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” Yes, Jesus Christ promised that all those in God’s memory will live again under beautiful conditions like the Garden of Eden. May this bring you peace.

Chrissy (White) Platek left a message on January 30, 2011:
I spent a lot of time at the Kalb's home. Mrs. Kalb was my 4-H advisor and I was in 7th grade when I ran Cross Country with Michelle. She was one of the nicest people I knew. I remember being at their house sewing when all I wanted to do was be outside with Michelle running. My family spent a lot of time at their shop in Middlefield, "Craft Cubbard" as well. I looked up to Michelle and admired her and thought of her as a Big Sis. I remember after her accident having a run for "Raisin" and my Mom and I visiting Michelle and her parents often. I know Michelle is walking and talking with the Lord in Heaven right now. I was very sad to hear about her passing this afternoon. I was in the kitchen telling my husband about Michelle and began to cry as I remembered fond memories of her. Mr. and Mrs. Kalb, I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sorry I didn't know about her passing until this afternoon or I would've been at her Memorial today. I am praying for God's comfort for you both today and for the days ahead.Love,Chrissy White Platek

Sorry to hear about your loss Mr. & Mrs. Kalb. I remember being in elementary school and coming to see Michelle at your house with my mom and sister Chrissy. That was over 20 years ago, but I still remember the amazing care and love I saw you as parents give your precious daughter. I also have a lot of great memories at your craft store. Know that you are loved by many people and Michelle's legacy will carry on. It took being a parent myself to realize the love my parents have for me. Thank you for the testimony that you both were to me at a young age of enduring love and faithfulness to your daughter. One of my favorite verses in the bible is the shortest and it's John 11:35 and all it says is "Jesus Wept". It reminds us that we serve a compassionate God who mourns with us and yet at the same time can celebrate with His children who have come home. As the days lie ahead filled with tears and laughter of special memories of Michelle may you be comforted by the embrace of family and friends. Love Jeremy White & Family

Michelle has always been one of the nicest people I have known. I will never forget the fun we had in cross country & track. Even though I was a little freshman, Michelle and I became good friends. We had a very close "team" and it was a great part of our lives. Mr. & Mrs. Kalb were always there supporting Michelle and the rest of the team. Michelle will be missed but the fond memories will always remain.

I remember coming into the craft store - getting time out when my young children were home with chickenpox - Mr. Kalb and Michelle were working together and he was teasing Michelle about her episode with chickenpox. I admired their close relationship and hoped my daughters and I would be as close when they were teenagers. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. God's love and peace be with you - - - Betty

Dear Roger and Mary Lou, I am so sorry to hear about Michelle’s passing. My heart goes out to you both. You two are truly amazing parents. I have a lot of fond memories of Michelle. Whether it was lying in the grass in her back yard star gazing or sitting in her parent’s family room helping with the bulk mailings or the many movies we saw together. Then there was the running. Running, for some wasn’t everything, but for some of us it was an important part our lives and who we were as people. We loved running. We were either running cross country or running track or running in the off season, or going to a running camp (yes a camp that we do a lot of running) I couldn’t tell you how many miles we all logged in, but those long roads sure did provide some good conversations. I miss those days on long runs, but mostly miss the conversation with my friend. I know she is running again.

My cousin has always been so special to me. She is my only girl cousin so she is special in that way. We also share the same name, her middle name is Kristine and my first name is Kristine. I always thought that was neat. My whole life I've always idolized her. I always admired so many things about her. She was as genuine, kind, caring and sweet as any person could ever possibly be. I loved going to visit her because she was always so, so nice to me. I always wanted to be just like her. We both really loved my Grandma Kalb too. It was fun to visit my Grandma when Michelle was visiting her too. Grandma would play along with both of us. It was the best time ever! Running is big in our family. Both of our dads were probably the ones responsible for getting us started. I know my dad ran with me when I was pretty young! I ran my first track meet when I was in first grade! And I started my cross country running right around then too! I remember going to watch Michelle run at the State Cross Meets and it was such an inspiration for me to watch her talent. I got chills every time and it always brought tears to my eyes! Once I got in junior high and could compete on the cross country team all I wanted was to do was run just like she did and be just as successful as she was. She inspired me to be passionate about running. Inspire she did...the relay teams I was on in track still hold school records and we competed in the State Meet as well....Something else we have in common. Before I ran I would always remember that moment when I saw her running and how it made me feel. It gave me a lot of strength and determination. She always has and always will hold an extra special place in my heart. I will always love you Michelle and will remember all the loving ways you touched my life. Love, your cousin Kristine
