Born in Findley Lake, NY, on December 16, 1921, Mrs. Loewenstein had lived for the past year in Munson Twp. She previously had lived in Little Falls, NY, since 1950.Mrs. Loewenstein died on February 24, 2007, a the Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Hts., OH.A musician, she had taught music at Little Falls High School in New York. She was also an accomplished violinist.After graduation from Oberlin College, Mary took a job as music teacher in Holland Patent, NY, a position she held until moving to Little Falls, NY, in 1950.Mary Finn married Dr. Gustav Loewenstein in December of 1952, in Little Falls, NY, residing on Garden Street until 2006 when she moved to Chardon, OH. He preceded her in death in November of 1993.A graduate of Oberlin College, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music in 1943. She then received her Masters Degree from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. Mrs. Loewenstein also taught private students in violin, and was active in the musical life of Little Falls.An avid walker and bird watcher, she also loved to travel, having gone by car through Mexico. She also had traveled to Canada and Israel.Survivors include: 2 Sons: Ernest V. (Phyllis) Loewenstein of Newton, Mass. and Max (Era) Loewenstein of San Francisco, Calif; 5 Grandchildren: Janet (Adam Levinson) Loewenstein of Wellfleet, Mass., Sarah (Jeff) Fanger of Munson Twp., OH, Ilana (Daniel Paz) Loewenstein of San Francisco, Calif., Miriam (Michael) Margoliot of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Tamara Loewenstein of San Francisco, Calif.;3 Great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Mary Fanger, Samantha Jean Fanger and Adam Paz;1 Brother: James Finn of Findley Lake, NY and Florida; and several Nieces and Nephews.Her parents: Dr. James and Katie (Nee: Bowlin) Finn, Husband, Dr. Gustav Loewenstein, and 1 Sister: Helen Shields, are deceased.
