Dr. Marilyn Teague was an educator with Kenston High School for 20 years and then went on to be an assistant superintendent for Cambridge City Schools and Executive Director of Instruction, Academic Progress, for Mansfield City Schools until her retirement in 2000.She was very dedicated to her education and studies. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University, and her Masters and Doctorate in Educational Administration from Kent State University.Since 1976, she wrote grants and received over $1 million in funds for educational purposes, including $500,000 for the inception of Kenston School District’s Radio Station (WKHR-91.5). This is one of the few FM radio stations based in a high school and solely operated by high school students. Other accomplishments include funding for Northeast Ohio’s YMCA programs and receiving the Barbara Bush Literacy Grant in 1995.She loved being a grandmother to her six grandchildren and great-grandson and spoiled them endlessly. Her active life included other hobbies, antiquing, auctions, and collecting extraordinary pieces of glass. She enjoyed the arts, supported Cleveland Playhouse Square, and had a love of dancing, dining, and shopping.She was an avid world traveler with a passionate love for seeing and learning about other cultures, and taking countless photographs. Her trips included Russia, China, Tibet, Africa and the Galapagos Islands.Dr. Marilyn Teague had been an active member of the Newbury United Community Church, and Chagrin Valley Lutheran Church, and Mansfield Rotary Club. She had previously been a board member of the Mansfield YMCA and Newbury Schools.Survivors are her daughters, Cynthia D. Teague of Newbury Township, Valerie (Allen) Garland of Newbury Township and Tamara J. Teague of Newbury Township; grandchildren, Mary, David Jr., Lauren and Carly Sayre; and Allen and Jessica Garland; and great-grandson, Aidan Donald Sayre.She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary Ristau; and sisters, Carol Holiday and Joan Mansfield.Burial will be in Newbury Center Cemetery, Newbury Township.Memorials: Contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer Association, 7575 Tyler Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060.Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Newbury United Community Church, 14916 Auburn Road (just south of Route 87) Newbury Township.
