Marian A. Mapes, age: 88, of Huntsburg Township, a homemaker, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Blossom Hill Care Center in Huntsburg Township.Born April 1, 1921, in Cleveland, she was a Huntsburg Township resident since 1964. Prior to that, she lived in Lyndhurst.Marian A. First married Roland W. Mapes on Aug. 17, 1940, in Chester Township. He preceded her in death in 1998.Mrs. Mapes worked for General Electric during World War II.She was a graduate of Chester High School and a member of the First Congregational Church of Claridon.Survivors are her daughter, Karen Phillips of Huntsburg Township; son, Douglas (Mary) Mapes of Painesville Township; three grandchildren, Summer Phillips, Stephen Mapes and Stacey Kovalchuk; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha and Sydney Mapes, and Dylan and Abigail Kovalchuk; and brother, David (Nancy) First of Carlisle, Mass.She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland W. Mapes; granddaughter, Allison Phillips; and parents, Arthur and Edith (nee: Kelly) First.
