M. Jeannette Baptie, 86 years old, a lifelong resident of Chardon died July 14, 2004 at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township, OH. She was born March 31, 1918, in Avon Lake, OH.She married Clifford Newton Baptie on September 22, 1945, at the Church of St. Mary, in Chardon. He preceded her in death in 1959.Mrs. Baptie worked as a postal clerk for more than 20 years, retiring in 1986. She was an active member of the Church of St. Mary in Chardon. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was fond of her flower gardens and enjoyed reading in her spare time. She was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan.Mrs. Baptie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Souvey of Chardon; son, Larry (Karen) Baptie of Chardon; grandchildren, Brain Souvey of Mentor on the Lake, Shellene (Nate) Seacrist of Streetsboro, OH, and Paul (Gretchen) Baptie of Chardon; as well as, her sister, Rita (Len) Polburn of Ashland, OH.She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford N. Baptie; parents, Edward and Pearl (nee: Wearsch) Krebs; and her sister, Virginia Zamer.The family has suggested memorial contributions may be made to the Chardon Fire Department, 110 S. Hambden Street, Chardon, OH 44024 or to the Grand Piano Fund at the Church of St. May, 401 North Street, Chardon, OH 44024.
