Linda (Powell) Schantz, 52, of Hambden Township, died at Geauga Regional Hospital. Born June 30, 1954, in Euclid, she had lived in Hambden Township since 1984. In her earlier years, she enjoyed going fishing and camping. Linda could be seen at every Hambden Volunteer Fire Department clambake, pouring clam chowder for all the patrons. Anytime the fire department needed something cooked, she was the one to call. She greatly enjoyed teaching her grandson the way around the kitchen. Linda loved to spend time with her family, especially her three grandchildren.Mrs. Schantz worked as a prep cook for Maxx Doogan’s in Chardon. She had been previously employed by the former Crust and Company in Chardon, as well as The Viking Restaurant in Munson Township before moving to Maxx Doogan’s.Survivors are her husband, David Schantz Sr., whom she married Sept. 22, 1976; son, David (Laura Clymer) Schantz Jr., of Hambden Township; daughter, Deanna (Mike Nesterak) Schantz of Hambden Township; sisters, Nancy (Stan) Pavelecky of Euclid and Sue (Jim Sorine) Powell of Mentor; brothers, Vincent E. Powell of Euclid, Frank Powell of Wickliffe and John (Cindy) Powell of Euclid; stepbrother, James Powell of North Carolina; and grandchildren, Steven Schantz and Makayla and Michael Nesterak.Her parents, Vincent E. and Marion (Giuffre) Powell, are deceased.Pastor Gary Russell, a family friend will officiate the service.
