Funeral services for Leona Louis (Williams) Herrington, 79, of Chardon will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., ( St. Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Mrs. Herrington died Oct. 20, 2010, at her residence. She was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Ravenna, she was a life long area resident. Mrs. Herrington was a homemaker and was very active in securing donations for the building of Geauga Hospital as well as volunteering at the hospital once built. She was active in the class reunions for her contemporaries at Newbury High School. Her greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family Survivors are her children: Kathryn (Kenn) Taylor of Cooper City, Fla., Jeffrey (Juanita) Herrington of Chardon, Elizabeth (Ron) McClintock of Newbury, Scott (Marie) Herrington of Mentor; grandchildren: Leslie Walker, Joshua McClintock, Rhonda (Dan) Gamber, Naomi (Marty) Greenwood, Craig Herrington and Sean Herrington; great-grandchildren, Logan Walker, Liliana Herrington, Jayden and Jaxyn Greenwood and brother, William (Mary) Williams of Newbury. Leona Williams married W.C. “Bill” Herrington on Dec. 15, 1951, in Fowler’s Mill. He preceded her in death Dec. 6, 2007. Her parents Kenneth Williams and Dorothy (Miller) Angers are also deceased. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pastor Patricia Hough of Newbury United Community Church will officiate at services. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Munson. The family suggests donations to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by The Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
