Joyce Eileen Scholl, 80, passed away on February 11, 2022.  She was born March 24, 1941, a daughter of Virgil Edgerton and Ethel Copeland Edgerton, deceased, in Salem, Ohio.  She grew up on a farm near Salem.  She graduated from Salem High School and Kent State University with a degree in home economics. She worked for a brief time for the County Extension Office and while there she met her future husband, William R. Scholl, whom she married in 1964, They were married for fifty years until his death in 2014, living in the house near Chardon that Bill built for them. Joyce used her education and natural gifts to make a comfortable home and to be a kind and generous neighbor and member of her religious community.  She was active in the ministry of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived by her sister Carole Treadway (Ray), her niece Annemarie Dloniak (Brian) and her great-nephew Braeden Dloniak, all of Greensboro, North Carolina.  She is also survived by a special cousin Rita Schoeni (Ken) of Bowling Green, Ohio.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by her nephew Eric Treadway.

A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, OH 44024.
