Mrs. Valvoda died March 14, 2006, in Concord.Born April 14, 1922, in Chardon Township, she had been a lifelong Chardon area resident.She attended Chardon Schools and the Willoughby-Eastlake School of Nursing in 1961. She enjoyed her work, bowling at Ernst Lanes in the Tuesday Ladies League and loved to crochet.Mrs. Valvoda worked as an LPN at Geauga Community Hospital.Survivors are her son, Anthony (Jane) Valvoda of Munson Township; daughter, Rosie Kalina of Painesville; brother, Michael Skiba of Florida; daughter-in-law, Jane Valvoda of Claridon Township; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.Her husband, James Valvoda, whom she married May 25, 1941, at the Church of St. Mary, died March 25, 1966. Her son, James Valvoda Jr.; daughter, Frances Justinger; and parents, William and Frances (Grotkowski) Skiba, are also deceased.Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Route 44, 500 Ft. south of Route 6/Chardon Square), in Chardon. Father Tom Berends of the church will officiate the services.
