Joseph Midolo, 78, of Chardon Township, died July 15, 2007, at home.Born March 27, 1929, in Cleveland, he was raised in the Collinwood area of Cleveland and had lived in Painesville and Mentor-on-the-Lake before moving to Chardon Township more than 30 years ago.He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church on Ravenna Road in Newbury, where he was also active as a choir soloist and in the outreach ministry to area nursing homes, and a member of the building and maintenance committees. When visiting his family’s homeland in Italy, he enjoyed researching family history and spreading the Word through his tract ministry. He also loved working and repairing his many classic cars that he had collected over the years and woodworking. He made stools for his grandchildren. He actively maintained his century home, repairing and restoring many rooms.Joseph read his Bible daily and was an avid reader of books, encyclopedias and periodicals. He shared his vast knowledge with his children, grandchildren and friends.Mr. Midolo worked in large machine repair at Euclid Company of Ohio and Morton Salt Company in Grand River. He had also been a realtor for Cirino Realty in Mentor, owner and operator of a service station on E. 200 St., in Cleveland and landlord of multiple properties in Lake County and Cleveland.Survivors are his wife, Elaine (Hildinger) Fay Midolo, whom he married Sept. 21, 1991, in Newton Falls; daughters, Barbara (Eric) Boesinger of Streetsboro, Sandra Mele of Willowick, Susan (Greg) Sheehan of Strongsville, Jill (Pastor Sam) DeMarco of New Brighton, Pa., and Gina (Jeff) Nichols of Lenexa, Kan.; sons, Salvatore Midolo of Beijing, China and Jason Midolo of Tucson, Ariz.; brother, Salvatore (Connie) Midolo of New London; stepdaughter, Deborah (David) Osicki of Leroy Township; stepsons, Charles Fay of Mentor, Douglas (Lisa) Fay of Jupiter, Fla., Lance (Darleen) Fay of Hambden Township and David (Jennifer) Fay of Munson Township; 27 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.His parents, Sebastian and Mary (Bruno) Midolo; sister, Vincenza Ferraro; brothers, Charles Guardo and Sebastian Tony Midolo; and stepson, Dani Fay, are deceased.Pastor David Ray of the church and Pastor Sam DeMarco of the New Brighton Christian Assembly will officiate the service. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
