A memorial service for John S. Warren, 77, of Chardon, will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., in Chardon.Mr. Warren died Jan. 14, 2006, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.Born Jan. 22, 1928, in Rochester, N.Y., he lived in Farmington Hills, Mich., and San Diego, Calif. before moving to Chardon in 1996.He was a graduate of Middletown High School, Middletown, N.Y., in 1945, lettering in football and baseball. He was a 1950 graduate of Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., where he also played baseball and was the quarterback for the football team. He was a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity. He attended Chardon United Methodist Church, in Chardon, and he and his wife played in the St. Mary’s Bridge-O-Rama in Chardon. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, was an avid reader, and also enjoyed golfing and sailing. Mr. Warren entered the U.S. Navy, Air Corp, Pilot Training Program, immediately after graduating from high school, and served during World War II. He then worked for American Seating Company of Grand Rapids, Mich., where he held various positions. He retired as General Sales Manager after 25 years of service. He then worked for American Coach Sales, in Los Angeles, Calif., and Ontario Bus Industries of Canada until 1988. After retiring and moving to Chardon, Mr. Warren worked part time at Chardon Lakes Golf Course, and Preston Auto Family and Junction Auto Sales. He was active with the Department on Aging, where he served as President of the Board for two years, and was on the Advisory Board and the Treasurer of the Levy Committee.Survivors include his wife, Suzanne (Davis) Warren of Chardon, whom he married in the Chapel on the Hamilton College Campus in Clinton, N.Y., on Sept. 9, 1950; sons, David Curtis Warren of Sacramento, Calif., and Peter Davis (Leslie) Warren of Chardon; grandchildren, Sarah Warren of Fresno, Calif., and John, Kathryn, and Kellie Warren of Chardon; and sister, Patricia (Jack) White of Alamo, Texas.He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl V. and Ruth (Ferguson) Warren; and sister, Mary Jane.Friends may call immediately following the service in the parlor at the church. Pastor Henry Woodruff, PhD, of Chardon United Methodist Church, will officiate at the services.
