He died February 16, 2011 at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Euclid, OH.Jack received his Speech Major; Chemistry and Business Minor from the University of Minnesota. In addition he received his Masters Degree in Management from the American Management Association in New York.His business career included chemical engineering, and management in the chemical field. He also was the Vice President and General Manager of a subsidiary of Reliance Universal, a chemical company. His management career expanded in 1984-1992 to Presidency of a small telephone company that is now part of WorldCom. Jack retired in 1998 as a sales manager who made a major contribution to the sales for a Cleveland telephone company. Jack married Judith Hren on September 16, 1961 in Rochester, MNJack’s main interests were woodworking, horses, photography, skiing, motorcycling, and business consulting. His passions were Hawaii and sailing. Jack was a member of numerous professional organizations. In addition he was a Rotarian for 25 years, a member of Toast Masters, and the American Petroleum Institute. He was also an active member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church.Survivors include his wife, Judith of Novelty; daughter, Ann Malia (Marvin) Nordeen of Traverse City, MI; and two grandchildren, Hannah and CooperHis parents, Franklin P. and Marie C. (nee: Cooper) Schantz III precede him in death.A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10:00AM at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Rd., Newbury . Visitation will be Friday February 25th from 4-8PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30PM at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (on St Rt. 44, 500′ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square), Chardon, OH. To The Schantz/Cooper Families-From Minnesota we send our belated condolences to you all. We knew Jack's mother, Marie and his family for over 34 yrs and spent some Christmas holidays together, as well as family functions. We will remember Jack as an eternal optimist. Always with a friendly smile and a kind word, spoken or written. Because of logistics, our visits were few, but we alwlays kept in touch each Christmas. Each year Jack would take the time to write a special note in our Christmas card. Through the years, we have saved a few of those cards, that were so special to us. The first time I met Jack was during the spring of l979. John and I were newly engaged and just purchased the house next door on Priorway. Our families weren't talking to either of us and Jack came riding up the drive on his bike with a smile on his face. He welcomed us into the neighborhood and into his life. Suddenly we became a member of his family. What a guy. We never looked back. From that point on we spent many holidays together with Jack, Judy and Ann.Jack was a wonderful neighbor and friend. He'll be missed by all who knew him.

That was when Pete and Marie lived on Chimney Rock Road over in Jersey Jack was about a half a year younger than me but was always bigger and very energetic. We'd play, he , me and Charlie with our toy cars and trucks for hours on end and had loads of fun!I always enjoyed seeing Jack at Punderson. I'll never forget when he and Marie were the "Energizer" bunny during a skitI have other happy memories which I hope to share when we all get together.He was a wonderful person.
