Mr. Evans was an avid Model Train collector. He was a member of the LENS and NMRA train clubs. One of his favorite places to be was his home wood working shop, creating many works of art. For 17 years, Mr. Evans coached Chardon Little League and Led the Chardon Lions Mini Football. He currently was very active with “Big Brothers and Sisters” at Maple Elementary School, Chardon. Mr. Evans lifelong priority was his family and they enjoyed spending much time outdoors. He was a Math Teacher and Football Coach at Collinwood High School for 34 years, retiring 1994. In his retirement, he worked part time helping others learn woodworking skills and sharing his talents. Survivors include his wife Sally (nee: Eagle) Evans of Chardon Twp., daughter Terri (Chuck) Roddy of Atlanta, GA, sons John (Judy) Evans, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale,FL and Jeff (Luisa) Evans of University Park, MD and his grandchildren Danielle, Nicole and Rachael Roddy, John III and Vincent Evans. His sister Barbara (Manny) Ferro lives in Albany, New York.
