John A. Walsh Jr., 61, of Chardon, passed away May 11, 2011, at his residence.Born Feb. 20, 1950, in Cleveland, he was a lifelong Chardon area resident.Mr. Walsh worked as a communications supervisor for Metal Coatings in Chardon from August 1978 to April 2010.John A. Walsh Jr. married Beckie Allen May 3, 1980, in Chardon.He was a graduate of Chardon High School, Class of 1968., and The Ohio State University, Class of 1973, with a BA in marketing. John had been a coach and commissioner of the Hambden Baseball League.He was a longtime cable television sports commentator for Cablevision and G-TV sports programming, especially wrestling and football. John was remembered for his work on the football cablecasts, including the Chardon High School’s 1994 State Championship season. John was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State University football.Survivors are his wife, Beckie Walsh of Chardon; daughter, Leslie Walsh of Chicago, lll.; son, Dr. Kyle Walsh, PhD, of New Haven, Conn.; and mother, Charlotte H. (Solarz) Walsh of Madison.He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Walsh Sr.; and sister, Charlene Shade.Private family services were held.The family would like to thank his friends for their lifetime of love and support.In lieu of public services, it was John’s wish for his friends to spend one night this week watching a Tribe game with their family.Contributions are suggested to Chardon Baseball League, P.O.
