Joan V. (Potts) Riehl, 79, Munson Township, passed away Jan. 10, 2011, at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.Born June 20, 1931, in Cleveland, she had resided in Lakewood before moving to Munson Township in 1955.Mrs. Riehl was the president of Riehl Systems from 1977 until her retirement in 2005.Joan V. Potts married Howard Riehl Aug. 6, 1955, in Lakewood. He preceded her in death in 2002.Mrs. Riehl was a graduate of the Ohio State University with a degree in elementary education. She taught at Park Elementary School, third grade, for one year. She was an avid reader and artist, enjoyed swimming at the Y, and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors are her daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” Jasper of Concord Township and Linda Riehl of Madison Township; sons, David (Mary) Riehl of Mesopotamia and Douglas (Diane) Riehl of Montville Township; grandchildren, Benjamin (Brandae) Filla of Missouri, Sarah (Brian) Mazzarella of Tallmadge, Joshua Riehl of Parma, Nicole Riehl of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Steven, Brittany and David Wheeler of Mesopotamia, and Tyler, Riley and Mason Riehl of Montville Township; and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, Lucas and Isaiah Filla and Savannah Mazzarella.She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. Riehl; parents, George and Marguerite (Grumley) Potts; and brother, George Potts.Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. The Rev. Timothy Kalista of the church will officiate.Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
