Joan M. (Williams) McFarlane age 58 of Chardon, Ohio for the past 30 years, died January 28, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer with her family by her side at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born on July 27, 1952 in Newark, Ohio and married John T. McFarlane on August 5, 1972 in NewarkJoan was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Chardon, and an active member of Maple Leaf Community Residence and Christ Child Society. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband, John McFarlane of Chardon; children, Patrick (Kirstin) McFarlane of San Francisco, CA and Amanda (Mark) Lisachenko of Mentor, OH; Grandchildren, Connor and Anna McFarlane and Kate and Jack Lisachenko; Brothers, Chris (Joyce) Williams and Scott Williams both of Newark, OH, Mother-in-Law, Thelma McFarlane of Newark, OH, and Sister-in-Law Laurie King of Newark, OHShe is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mary (Scott) Williams and father-in-law, John McFarlaneFuneral Mass will be Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 10:00AM at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon, Ohio. Dear Family,I am so sorry to learn about the loss of your dear loved one. Please know that so many people share your grief with you to help you through this difficult time of sorrow. The Williams family was always like a second family to me. I was glad to be at Joanie's dad's funeral and to be able to assist at Mass. It was an honor, because it made me feel like a part of the family again. Even though it had been years, all of you made me feel at home. I will always feel like I lost a sister. I miss you, Joanie. May you rest in peace. May God surround all of you with his comfort and love.

I have always felt at times like this there is so little anyone can say, for there are no words that have ever been invented to fit the loss of a loved one. ~Helen Steiner RiceI did not have the pleasure of knowing Joanie as well as so many did, but in the few occasions I did get to spend time with her, family reunions, weddings, a recent birthday celebration; she made a special impression on my heart. Her warm personality, sweet smile and infectious laughter made her a joy to be around. Her immeasurable love and devotion for her family, especially her grandchildren was another one of her most endearing traits. My heart breaks for her family's loss, for the world's loss, but I know Heaven is rejoicing as they welcome this sweet spirit home. John, Mandy and Patrick you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers now and in the days to come.
