Joan A. (Aitken) Campbell, 78, of Chardon, passed away April 21, 2010, at Burton Healthcare.Born June 7, 1931, in Ossining, N.Y., she had lived in Geauga County since 1947.Mrs. Campbell worked as a teacher for the Chardon Board of Education, retiring in 1980.Joan Aitken moved to Chardon in 1947 and graduated from Chardon High School in 1959. She earned a degree in primary education from Kent State University in 1953. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.Survivors are her husband, Barney Campbell, whom she married in June 1959, in Chardon; sons, Kenneth (Lisa) Campbell of Montana, Patrick (Laura) Campbell of Washington, and Raymond Campbell of Huntsburg Township; and grandchildren, Jesse, Courtney, Olivia and Alex Campbell and Kevin Werfield.She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Gertrude (Gibson) Aitken.
