James R. McElwain, 68, of Windsor, Ohio, died May 10, 2007, at University Hospitals in Cleveland.Born Jan. 8, 1939, in Tioga, W.Va., he was a longtime resident of Chardon before moving to Windsor 25 years ago.He married Linda Lengel at the Chardon United Methodist Church on July 1, 1961.He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958, and in the reserves until 1962. He enjoyed woodworking and being outdoors. He was a member of the Chardon Eagles Aire 2261.Mr. McElwain was a lab technician for 43 years at Chardon Rubber before retiring in 2001.Survivors are his wife, Linda (nee, Lengel) McElwain; sons, James McElwain of Orlando, Fla. and Raymond McElwain of Windsor; and sisters, Marie Yahnert of Warren, Helen (Robert) Heath of Bellevue, Doris Madsen of Cape Coral, Fla. and Connie Rein of Painesville.He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Opal (Mollahan) McElwain; sister, Betty Lou Lowthian; and brother, Chilton Paul McElwain.Associate Pastor, Ken Judd of Chardon Assembly of God will officiate at services. Burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
