Mr. Vokoun was a 1959 graduate of Chardon High School and a 1963 graduate of John Carroll University, with a Bachelors degree in Social Science. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force during the Vietnam war as a recruiter. Mr Vokoun was the Human Resource Manager for ELTECH Systems , retiring in 2003 following 35 years of service. He started working for Diamond Shamrock in 1968, before it became ELTECH. He was a 31 year member and Past President of Chardon Rotary Club and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce for more than 26 years. Mr. Vokoun served on the Chardon Board of Education for 12 years, 1983 until 1995. He also served on the Board of the Chardon Community Day Care Center and was Chairman of the Board in 1983. He was a member of the Claridon Congregational Church, Claridon Twp.Mr. Vokoun enjoyed traveling and fishing in Canada and vacationing on the Trent River at his cottage. He has been enjoying that area since he was a child. He is survived by his wife of over 41 years Susan (Klimowski) Vokoun of Hambden Twp.sons Christopher (Laura) Vokoun of Hambden Twp. andJames (Melinda) Vokoun, Jr. of Stevens Point, WI, daughters Jennifer Vokoun of South Euclid, Erin (James Jay) McMahon of Clifton Park. NY, Sarah Vokoun of Nashville, TN and Katelynn Vokoun of Bowling Green; grandchildren Asher and Owen Vokoun, Audrey McMahon and Isareen Vokoun; sister Joann (Donald) Crellin of Leroy Twp. and brother William Frank Vokoun, Jr. of Chardon. His parents William F. and Myrtle (Bosworth) Vokoun are deceased.
