Jack Smith, age 87, passed away onThursday, November 23, 2023. He was born in December of 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Pearl and Norman Smith. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elaine and Margaret, brother Charles, and son, Jeff. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn Smith, son Paul (Rachel) Smith and brother Tom Smith.
Jack served his country in the Army when he was called upon during the draft. Afterwards, he dedicated 42 years working for Mettler Toledo, Inc. Jack spent most of his life living in Chesterland, Ohio, where he was an active member of his community and church. After he retired, he was an active member of the Kirtland Senior Center. At the senior center, he enjoyed playing pool, bocce ball, helping out with lunches, pancake breakfasts, safety town, and he even served on the board. He also enjoyed participating in the senior Olympics playing bocce ball. In his free time Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking and fishing.
Jack loved his family and having everyone around during the holidays and special occasions. He was always quick with a smile, a joke, or a funny short story to make those around him laugh and be happy. He was quick to make friends wherever he went and was a delight to be around. He will be greatly missed.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the Chardon Municipal Cemetery, Park Avenue, Chardon, Ohio 44024.
