IRENE D. ROSEUM (nee: Szanyi), Age 63 of Chesterland, died Friday, March 23 at UH Hanna House, Cleveland. Born January 31, 1955 in Cleveland to Stephen and Nedra (nee: Young) Szanyi, she was a lifelong area resident and a 1973 graduate of Chardon High School. Irene was dispatcher for both Chester Twp. and Gates Mills Police, Fire and Rescue. She started out as a Records Clerk at the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office and served throughout the years as an EMT for the former Geauga Ambulance Service and Chesterland Fire/Rescue. Irene retired after 25 years of loyal service. She was a talented artist, photographer and doing arts and crafts.
Irene is survived by her husband of 37 years, Marc of Chesterland and her daughter Tessa Gable of Mentor and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jean Riddle and brother Iver Szanyi.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (on St. Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon. Memorial service will be at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held at Kirtland Cemetery.
