A first-generation American and one of fifteen children, Mr. Schultz left school to serve in the US Army, Korean War, enlisting in 1951. He proudly served his country in the 70th Tank Battalion. He earned two Bronze Service Stars, a Sharp Shooter’s Badge, Korean War Badge, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He earned an honorable discharge in February of 1954 and reenlisted to serve in Co. F. 331st Infantry 83rd Infantry Division of the Army Reserve until April 1957. He loved to vacation in his motor home and made friends wherever he traveled. A true outdoorsman, he spent many hours both in the woods and in his own back yard. He was a member of the Pilgrim Christian Church and an avid Chardon High School Football Fan, missing only a handful of games in the last thirty years. Mr. Schultz was very proud of and enjoyed spending time with his family.Patriotic, family oriented, generous, loving and kind, Mr. Schultz will be greatly missed by those who loved him. Survivors include his wife Olive (nee: Bates) Schultz of Chardon, children Linda (Bill) Arotin of Chardon, Howard (Lois) Schultz, Jr. of Timberlake, Melody (James) Keegan of Chardon and Holly (Michael) Hummel of Concord.Proud grandfather of 10, also leave 6 Brothers and 3 Sisters.
