Helena K. (Kreitner) Crockett, 95, of Chardon. Born Jan. 21, 1911, in Gunn, Wyo., she lived in Cleveland before moving to Chardon 14 years ago to live closer to her family.Mrs. Crockett died Jan. 21, 2006, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Hillcrest Hospital.She enjoyed walking, reading, doing crossword puzzles and baking. She especially enjoyed taking trips to the Eastern Seashore. She truly loved living in downtown Cleveland and spent many hours at the public library.Mrs. Crockett worked as a bookkeeper for 30 years at Pittsburgh Mercantile in Brownsville, Pa., and Spyak Home Furnishings in Cleveland. Survivors are her daughter, Linda (Bob) Deskins of Novelty; grandchildren, Jason Crockett of Cleveland, Catana Deskins of Novelty, Bobby (Andrea Barnes) Vernon of Columbus, Sabrina (Dennis) Roberts of Cleveland, Khristina (Christopher) Walker of Cleveland, and Angela Deskins of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Imani and Shamon Walker, Sydnee and Kendall Vernon; sister, Mary McCaffery of Cleveland; and nieces and nephews.Her husband, Peter Crockett, whom she married in Winchester, Va., in the early 1940s, died in 1970. Her parents, Peter and Johanna (Hackett) Kreitner; sisters, Betty Prusha, Alyce Kreitner, and Adelaid Rice; and brothers, Paul Kreitner, John Kreitner and Peter Kreitner, are also deceased.Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Cemetery in Briar Hill, Pa.The family suggests contributions be made to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, 1400 W. 25th St., 4th Floor, Cleveland 44113.
