H. John Adrian, 86, of Chardon, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Briar Hill Health Care in Middlefield.He was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Coventry, England. He immigrated to Canada in 1954, then to the United States in 1956. He has been a resident of the Chardon area since 1956.Mr. Adrian was a cabinet maker and the owner/operator of former Western Reserve Elevator.Henry J. Adrian married Georgette Partridge in Coventry, England on May 20, 1948. He was a veteran of the Royal Marines during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was the founding and active member of the St. Luke Episcopal Church in Chardon, where he had constructed the altar, communion rail, lectern and altar cross. He was a member of the Elevator Construction Union in Cleveland and the Carpenter and Joiners Union in England, the United States and Canada. He was also a member of the Royal Marine Veterans Association in Toronto, Canada.Survivors include his wife, Georgette Adrian of Chardon; five daughters, Carol Ann (Charlie) Younkin of Durham, N.C., Elizabeth Hannah Adrian of Cleveland, Judith Morris of Burton Township, Sally-Jane Veverka of Newbury Township and Deborah Lynn (Charlie) Marotta of Pepper Pike; one son, David John Adrian of Chardon Township; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry John and Rose Hannah (Stout) Adrian; two sisters, Joan Emily Emanuel and Betty Tyres and one brother, Richard Henry Adrian.Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Chardon. The Rev. Chris McCann of the church will officiate.The family will receive friends following the service. Final resting place will be at The Columbarium of St. Luke Episcopal Church.In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Luke Episcopal Church.Arrangements were made by The Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
