FREEDA B. LIKINS (nee: MURPHY), Age 96, of Chardon, went to be with her Lord on October 12, 2018. Born September 13, 1922 in Westernport, MD to the late Gilbert and Lovada (nee: Wilt) Murphy, she moved to Cleveland in 1953, to Newbury in 1955 and to Chardon in 1989. Freeda retired in 1986 after 25 years with Leaseway Transportation. She was a Deaconess at Chesterland Baptist Church and served as the volunteer organist for 23 years. Freeda enjoyed visiting with extended family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel and watch the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers play. Her favorite player was Frankie Lindor. She was an avid homemaker, always putting her family first.
She is survived by her children, Garland, Jr. (Barbara), Susan, Lenora and Blair
(Bonnie) Likins. Grandchildren Dr. Alison (Ryan) Allin, Bonnie (Tim) Warnky,
Erika Likins and Heidi (Olany) Magana and 6 great grandchildren Charlie, Henry, Lucy, Hannah, Lydia and Damian, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland, Sr., her parents and siblings Russell, Thelma, Hilda and Leonard.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 5:00 — 8:00 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (On Rt. 44, 500′ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the funeral home, Rev. Dr. Jerry DeHart of Chesterland Baptist Church officiating, followed by the burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Munson Twp.
