Frederick “Fred” Gartner died Aug. 9, 2011 at Blossom Hill Care Center in Huntsburg. He was born Nov. 1, 1922 in Youngstown, OH to Fred and Florence (nee: Briggs) Gartner. He spent his youth in the Youngstown area before moving to Sacramento, CA and finally to Montville. Prior to his move to California, Fred was a member of Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland and Sulgrave Lodge #696 F&AM of Poland, Youngstown Shrine Club and North Lima Shrine, where he was Past President. He enjoyed bringing smiles to the children as a Shrine Clown. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Cleveland. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by son Robert (Jacquelyn) Gartner of Montville, Twp.; daughter Patricia (Robert) Engelhardt of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Eric (Rachel) Gartner of Chardon, Cari (Jay) Schwartz of Portland, OR, Kevin (Candace) Engelhardt of Tuscon, AZ, and Erin (Mark) Logsdon of Seattle, WA; great-grandchildren: Zachary and Bradley Gartner, Ethan Engelhardt, Joshua and Avalon Schwartz. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Florence (nee: Briggs) Gartner; 1st wife Joann (nee:Miles) Gartner, 2nd wife Geraldine Diane (nee: Seiman) Gartner and son Paul Gartner.
