Frank “Ferenc” Katai, age 69, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2023. He was born in Budapest, Hungary to Ferenc and Gizella (nee:Balogh) Katai. As a young adult Frank loved spending time at the Danube River where he fished and swam. He moved to Cleveland in 1979 and not long after met his future wife, Eva, and married in July 19, 1980. Frank and Eva moved to Chardon and started a family. He worked for Mar-Bal Inc. for 25 years. Frank enjoyed fishing and watching historical and comedy films. He had love for his Hungarian heritage and greatly appreciated the cuisine. Frank and Eva regularly invited friends and family over to laugh together and share a meal. Frank will be remembered for his sense of humor and generosity. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Eva (nee: Vaszko); two daughters, Monica and Victoria (Benjamin) Stiegemeier; Grandchild, Flint; and sister, Gizella. He leaves behind many family members throughout the United States and Hungary. 

Frank is preceded by his parents, Ferenc and Gizella. 

A visitation for friends and family will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, OH 44024.
