Frances LeClare Burr (nee: Hoch) age 83, of Chardon, OH, a homemaker, died August 22, 2008 at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital. Born September 17, 1924 in Painesville, OH she was raised in Fairport Harbor before moving to Chardon in 1948. In her younger years, she worked as an executive secretary for the former Diamond Alkali in Fairport Harbor. She assisted her husband at the Burr Funeral Home for many years, until his retirement. Frances LaClare Hoch married Hal Marcus Burr, July 2, 1948, in Fairport Congregational Church. He preceded her in death April 18, 2007.She was a Precinct Judge for the Geauga County Board of Elections for many years.Mrs. Burr was a 1942 graduate of Fairport Harding High School, where she was a cheerleader and Secretary/Treasurer of her class. She also attended Ohio State University.She was a member of the Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon, having served as Deaconess, and had been active in Women’s Fellowship. She also enjoyed bowling in leagues at Ernst Lanes; having dinner parties for her many friends; collecting lighthouses; and traveling, especially to Nova Scotia, Labrador and Newfoundland, Canada.She and her husband enjoyed wintering in Clearwater, Florida for over 25 years. When her children were young, she served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and Troop Leader for Girl Scouts.She enjoyed handcrafts, including stained glass, sewing, ceramics, doll-making, and creating miniature dioramas.She is survived by he daughter Marcia (Kirk) Hopkins of Hudson, OH; son Marc H. (Nan) Burr of Chardon; grandchildren Katie Hopkins of Chicago, Il, Marc F. Burrly and Andrew J. Burr of Chardon; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by Husband: Hal Marcus “Marc” Burr; Parents: Andrew K. and Willametta L. (Nee: Wildman) Hoch; and Sister: Juanita Snyder.
