EVELYN NEUNDORFER
age 98, died April 18, 2020, at her Chardon home. She was born in Mantua Twp., OH, on October 5, 1921, to Harmon and Mary (nee: Garwick) Rodhe .
Evelyn attended Mantua Center School and graduated from Chardon High School, Class of 1939. She received her RN from the St. Luke’s Nursing School, Cleveland in 1943. Evelyn married William Neundorfer on June 26, 1944; they were married for 51 years at his death on Oct. 15, 1995.
She had been a homemaker, enjoyed baking (always having cookies ready for visitors), gardening, wildflower walks and maple sugaring. Evelyn also enjoyed reading and participating in a book club. She was skilled at refinishing antique furniture, especially rocking chairs.
Evelyn had worked as a school nurse for the Chardon Board of Education, and volunteered for blood drives and at the Cancer Society Discovery Shop. She was very loving and gracious to her family, caretakers and friends, and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, describing herself as fortunate to have such a wonderful family and many friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Martha Neundorfer (Claudio Alessi) of Rome Italy and Beth (Greg) Herbers of Gallatin, TN; sons, Michael (Marcia) Neundorfer of Willoughby Hills, Mark (Connie) Neundorfer of Houston, TX; Carl Neundorfer of Chardon, and Paul Neundorfer of Gates Mills; daughter in law, Jean Neundorfer of Houston TX; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister in law, Betty Rodhe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James Neundorfer; a sister, Lucille Dobos and brothers, Jack and Harmon (Bud) Rodhe.

Doubly sad to hear of Evelyn's passing at this sad time in U.S. History. I always thought of her when driving up Twing hill to my house. We so enjoyed book club meetings with Evelyn, especially in May when we made our new selections for the year. That big broad low table in her living room was just perfect for displaying possible choices. And my, was Evelyn ever a good cook. We always had a great time eating, drinking and discussing books at Evelyn's. She will be sadly missed.

My deepest condolences to the Neundorfer family. It was a honor to have known Mrs Neundorfer, a generous , kind hearted wife, mother and role model . She will forever be part of my sweetest memories. Thank you for the memories .

We will miss Aunt Ev and all the wonderful visits with her at her home. She was the sweetest of aunts and always so kind and welcoming. Her tea & cookies were the best!
