Eva May (Habink) Smith, 82, of Chardon, died Aug. 19, 2008, at Chardon Healthcare.Born July 11, 1926, in Cleveland, she had lived in Chardon since 1975.She was a graduate of Fenn College, and a member of Pilgrim Christian Church, where she served as a Deacon and Elder, Progress Research Club, Geauga Hospital Auxiliary, and Richmond Heights Garden Club. She enjoyed going to family reunions and loved spending time with her family. She was involved in her children�s lives with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H.Mrs. Smith had worked as a deputy auditor at the Geauga County Auditor�s Office for 19 years before her retirement.Survivors are her son, Edward �Chip� Smith of Milwaukee, Wis., and Tom Smith of Chardon; daughter, Sandy (Paul) Stefanko of Chardon; grandchildren, Courtney and Jocelyn Smith, Janna Stefanko and Carina Smith; sister, Betty (Richard) St. John of Richmond Heights; and many nieces and nephews.Her husband, Edward Smith, whom she married Dec. 16, 1950 in Cleveland, died in 1974. Her sisters, Lenora Turner and Ruth Suratt; brother, Charles Habink; and grandson, John David Smith, are also deceased.The Rev. Ralph Wearstler of the church will officiate the service. Burial will be in Leighton Township, Mich.
